The factions of ANNO 2070 are part of history in 2205. Like ANNO 2070 to ANNO 1701, ANNO 2205 features references to characters and events from the previous games. The game was released in November 3rd, 2015. Think what you want about EA, but at least they keep their Origin stuff separate from Steam. ANNO 2205 is the successor of ANNO 2070, offering more content and challenges than any other ANNO games. It may have changed, but back then, Uplay wasn't straightforward to set up, the client seemed more like a freaking social network, asking me to add friends before I could even redeem my game. That's like when you go shopping in your favorite bookstore and once you paid instead of handing you over your book they give you a voucher for an ebook on amazon.
#ANNO 2070 VS 2205 CODE#
It was one of the first games that I bought on Steam, a few years ago, imagine my surprise when instead of a game I got a code for another game client. Up to this day they don't even mention the fact that Anno 2070 requires Uplay in the Steam store (they only mention Tages, which often seems to cause trouble for people as well). Still why not get the game directly for Uplay then, so you can just avoid running two DRMs at the same time? In my opinion they shouldn't even sell it on Steam if it requires Uplay. Guess it's not so much of an issue, once it's set up, working and if you use it regularly.

As I said, I also had trouble with certain patches and the client not starting up as it should. If you use it rarely, like i do, it also takes likes half an hour patching the Uplay client first.
